Profits of Qatari Ooredoo plunge 96% in 2021

Qatari Ooredoo

Doha, (Business News Report)|| The profits of Qatari Ooredoo fell by 96% during the past year 2021, compared to the profits of the previous year.

Qatari Ooredoo also said that its annual profits in 2021 fell to 47 million riyals.

The company also attributed the decline in profits to losses in foreign exchange rates of 835 million riyals, in addition to making provisions worth 2.3 billion riyals resulting from business disruption in the Myanmar market.

The company recorded a net profit of 806 million riyals during the fourth quarter of last year, supported by the recording of exceptional profits resulting from the sale and leaseback of telecom towers in Indonesia worth 1.57 billion riyals.

The Board of Directors recommended to the General Assembly the distribution of cash dividends for the year 2021 at a rate of 30% of the nominal value of the share, at 30 dirhams for each share, with a total of 961 million riyals.

World Cancer Day

In a separate context, in conjunction with the occasion of World Cancer Day, Ooredoo announced that it will launch again this year its Nojoom Points Donation Drive to the Qatar Cancer Society, after the campaign witnessed great success and popularity last year.

Ooredoo renewed its cooperation with the Qatar Cancer Society by launching this year’s donation campaign, which seeks to encourage Nojoom members to donate Nojoom points to the Qatar Cancer Society.

The campaign also aims to support efforts to care for cancer patients and contribute to spreading awareness about methods of prevention, treatment and response to cancer.

The total donations in favor of the Qatar Cancer Society during the campaign launched by Ooredoo last year amounted to about 4 million Nojoom points, thus achieving twice the target points balance of 2 million points.

As for this year’s campaign, no goal has been set for the total points targeted to be collected, with more focus on encouraging members to continue donating and promoting the spirit of giving and giving to collect the largest possible number of points.

Nojoom members can donate their points during this year’s campaign through the Ooredoo app during the period From 4 to 28 February 2022.
