Doha, (Business News Report)|| The number of Gulf tourists coming to Qatar witnessed a jump during the month of April, rising by 987.6% compared to the same month last year.
The Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority said that the total number of tourists coming to Qatar reached 97,854 last April, compared to 13,312 visitors in April 2021.
Meanwhile, the number of the Gulf tourists was about 30,258, compared to 2,782 visitors in April 2021.
While the number of visitors from other Arab countries in April 2022 amounted to 8,908 visitors, compared to 864 visitors in April 2021, with a growth rate of 931%.
As for visitors to African countries, their number reached 1696 last April, compared to 864 visitors in April last year. As for other Asian countries and Oceania, the number of visitors in April 2022 amounted to about 30,966 visitors, compared to about 7,780 visitors in April 2021.
The number of visitors and arrivals from Europe last April reached 20,000, compared to 1,472 in April 2021. As for the Americas, the number of visitors in April 2022 was about 6,000, compared to 283 in April 2021.
The number of visitors symbolizes travelers and non-residents of Qatar for a short-term period and for any purpose. It includes border arrivals under 15 different types of visitor visas, including all types of business and leisure visas except for business visas.
Regarding hotel occupancy rates last April, the Planning and Statistics Authority confirmed that one and two star hotels recorded occupancy rates of 77%, followed by regular hotel apartments by 75%, and then three-star hotels with an occupancy rate of 70%.
It is followed by four-star hotels with 50%, then luxury hotel apartments by 43%, bringing the total occupancy rates in April 2022 to 44%, compared to 61% in April 2021.
The Planning Authority indicated that the total number of electronic transactions on the e-government portal reached about 135,400 last April, compared to 198,919 transactions in March 2022.
The health card renewal service topped the rest of the public services, where its number reached 56,550 last April, followed by the electronic documentation service with 41,601 transactions, then the electronic registration of the medical commission with 18,419 transactions, and the date palm import license with 6468 transactions.
