BNRSnowflake, a cloud analysis firm, has partnered with Nvidia, a computing company. The partnership aims to enable clients from banking, healthcare, and commerce to develop AI models through their own data.

On Monday, the two companies revealed their collaboration at Snowflake Summit 2023.

“In the old days, in small data computing, you moved data to the computer,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said. “But when you have giant amounts of data like Snowflake does, then you move the compute to the data.”

In this particular instance, Nvidia is making a relatively technical move. According to Huang, the Snowflake Data Cloud will include its NeMo platform for developing and operating generative AI models.

The collaboration comes as ChatGPT has pushed several businesses to develop AI systems. It has pushed Nvidia, which offers the primary equipment for AI, to a trillion-dollar valuation.

Companies Handle Their Data, Nvidia Leads

“This is significant. This is the last mile that we’ve been waiting for 40 years,” said Snowflake CEO Frank Slootman. “Every industry is on this. They used to say software is eating the world. Well, now data is eating software.” Furthermore, he highlighted the critical importance of information in today’s world.

Businesses that handle their data with Snowflake will be able to utilise it to develop new AI models. They can acquire a competitive edge in the market without exposing themselves to losing control, according to Slootman.

The collaboration’s financial information was not disclosed. However, Nvidia is going to gain as more clients use computing for AI work, according to Huang.

“We sell more chips, and we have an operating system for AI called Nvidia AI Enterprise,” said Huang. “That operating system makes it possible for our chips to process AI.” The computing company charges clients for their usage of its Nvidia AI Enterprise application.
