Etisalat acquires %100 of elGrocer company

Etisalat

The Emirates Telecommunications Group Company (Etisalat) announced the signing of an initial agreement to acquire the entirety of elGrocer DMCC.

Etisalat said that this acquisition will support it in its digital ambitions by enriching its services, enhancing its ability to meet current and future customer requirements, and maximizing synergies that will lead its portfolio of diverse and integrated services and products.

The strong presence of elGrocer in the UAE would enhance the Etisalat services available to customers in the UAE under the “Basmat” brand, Etisalat said.

The company also works on online food ordering, and the ability to earn and redeem points at more than 7,000 outlets across the UAE.

Etisalat indicated that this acquisition will be financed in cash, and that the financial impact is not significant compared to the financial statements of the Etisalat Group.

In 2015, the elGrocer platform was launched to be an online grocery marketplace operating across the UAE. It brings together major retailers and specialty stores on one platform with more than 500 outlets and 120,000 products.

ElGrocer has strategic partnerships with the most important global and local consumer goods companies, to collaborate and build innovative strategies to support and enhance its brands.

In a related context, du, a subsidiary of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, will participate in the 20th edition of the UAE Careers Fair 2021.

The exhibition is considered a leading platform for the recruitment and training of Emirati youth, which will be hosted by the Dubai World Trade Center from 15-17 November, with the participation of more than 70 companies from the public and private sectors, with the aim of encouraging Emirati talents to explore career opportunities offered by the ICT sector.

In turn, Ibrahim Nasser, CEO of Human Resources at du, stressed the importance of work and concerted efforts to empower Emirati talent and provide them with the capabilities and tools that transform them into contributing a pivotal role in achieving the goals of the UAE’s national agenda during the next fifty years.

He pointed out that du aims, through its participation in the exhibition, to communicate with the largest possible number of Emirati talents, provide support and guidance to them, and inspire them to embark on successful career paths in all areas of the private sector.
