Domestic equity indices ended a volatile session on a flat note on Tuesday. Sensex closed 40.99 points, or 0.12 per cent, higher at 34,991, while Nifty settled 6 points, or 0.06 per cent, up at 10,530.
As many as 27 stocks from the Nifty pack closed in the red with Cipla, SBI, HPCL, Axis Bank and BPCL falling up to 6 per cent. Zee, YES Bank, TCS, Sun Pharma and Tata Motors gained up to 2.20 per cent.

11 times profit jump in Q2
Graphite India posted 980.58 per cent, or 10.81 times, year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 1,113 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2018. It had posted a net profit of Rs 103 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Shares of the company closed 1.15 per cent higher at Rs 981.
Spurt in open interest
Balkrishna Industries witnessed the biggest spike in open interest at 79.31 per cent, followed by Cipla (53.03 per cent), Voltas (30.97 per cent) and Glenmark (22.10 per cent).
Asian markets end mixed
Asian markets ended mixed after a cautious session ahead of the US midterm elections and the US Federal Reserves monetary policy meet, scheduled to be held on November 7 and 8 respectively. Nikkei225 closed 1.12 per cent higher at 22,147, while Shanhgai Composite and Taiwan Weighted dipped up to 0.66 per cent.
Stocks@fresh 52-week highs/lows
More than 30 stocks scaled fresh 52-week lows on the National Stock Exchange despite equity benchmark closing marginally in the green. They included ABG Shipyard, Eveready Industries, BASF India, Alchemist, Kirloskar Brothers and Jindal Worldwide. On the other hand, Universal Cable, Birla Cable, Blue Chip India and Tiaria Polypies hit their fresh 52-week highs.
Most active stocks
PC Jeweller, State Bank of India, Tata Motors, RCom, Infibeam and YES Bank were the most active stocks in terms of volume while SBI, RIL, Axis Bank and Cipla emerged as the most active stocks in terms of value.
MACDs buy signals for 16 stocks
Momentum indicator Moving Average Convergence Divergence, or MACD, signalled upward crossover on as many as 16 counters on NSE. The list included Power Grid, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Bombay Rayon and Shakti Pumps.
Who moved my Sensex
Reliance Industries (up 1.37 per cent), TCS (up 2.22 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 0.97 per cent) contributed the most to the 30-share index, whereas SBI (down 2.98 per cent), Axis Bank (down 2.67 per cent and Maruti (down 1.31 per cent) weighed in on the index.
Voltas dips sharply post Q2 numbers
Shares of Tata group air conditioning and engineering services provider Voltas plunged over 3 per cent despite the company reported a 12 per cent rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 107 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2018. It had posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 95 crore for the same period last financial year. The scrip closed 3.01 per cent down at Rs 524.05.
Muhurat Trading
BSE and NSE will conduct a special 'Muhurat' trading session between 5 pm and 6.30 pm on Wednesday on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
