The Labour leader – a longstanding opponent of the EU – said he was not calling for a second vote himself but would accept the will of the party.
He told the Mirror: "What comes out of conference I will adhere to.
“But Im not calling for a second referendum. I hope we will agree that the best way of resolving this is a General Election.
“But I was elected to empower the members of the party. So if conference makes a decision I will not walk away from it and I will act accordingly.”

He also said: "Theresa Mays Chequers proposals do not meet Labours “six tests” for Brexit, which include a strong relationship with Europe, the same rights, protections and benefits we have now and fair migration to boost Britains economy.
"Chequers does not meet them. We are not happy with it and we would vote against it.
“That could trigger a General Election and were ready for it.”
The news comes as Mrs May faced calls for a “Plan B” after a disastrous round of negotiations in Salzburg.

Donald Tusk, President of the European council, said her Chequers deal "will not work" and risked "undermining the single market".
The value of the Pound plummeted 1% after her defeat, the biggest one-day drop in 11 months amid fears of a no-deal.
Now Mrs May will have to face her Cabinet on Monday for “crunch point” talks and calls for a Plan B or a Canada-style free trade deal.
