Modern life is not kind to people with clumsy fingers.
But if you’re a big-mitted smartphone fumbler who keeps bashing the wrong buttons, Apple has a little treat for you.
There’s a secret one-handed keyboard hidden away in iOS 11, the latest version of the software which powers iPhones and iPads.
Apple introduced the function because big screens can prove rather difficult for disabled people or anyone whose paws are on the small side.
It allows you to reach more or less all the letters, numbers and emojis with one thumb.
The keyboard is designed to help people type with just one hand, which is great for customers like the famous hook-handed jihadi Abu Hamza or anyone else missing a mitt.
It’s also very handy (sorry) for certain tiny-handed American presidents for because it means larger models such as the iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X can be used more easily.
To switch on the one-handed keyboard, open up an app or text message.
When you start to type, you should see a small emoji logo in the bottom left of the screen.
Just hold this and you’ll be shown several options. The icon which looks like a keyboard with an arrow pointing left or right will shift all the keys to one side of the screen.
You can also go into the keyboards section of settings to see more options.

The one-handed keyboard was discovered last year by developer Steve Troughton-Smith.
Apple appears to have introduced the function more than five years ago, but only introduced it in iOS 11 which was released in September 2017.
