Trump Donates 4th Quarter Salary to Aid Coronavirus Relief

President Donald Trump will be donating a quarter of his annual salary in order to help fight coronavirus, according to a twitter post from White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.

In the post on Tuesday, March 2, Grisham wrote that Trump “made a commitment to donate his salary while in office.” She further stated that the act was a way to further honor his promise to the American people to protect them.

Grisham wrote that the donation will be coming from the pay he received in the last quarter of 2019, according to the tweet. The money will be going to the Department of Health and Human Services in order “to support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain, and combat Coronavirus.”

Trump was paid around $400,000 in 2019, and according to the image included in the tweet from the press secretary of the White House, Trump had signed off on a check for $100,000.

Throughout his time in office, Trump has donated his quarterly presidential wage to various causes and government offices, such as U.S. Homeland Security, Transportation and Veteran Affairs, as well as to several agencies trying to fight the high amount of opined crisis. Grisham stated that in his time as president, he had donated well over $1 million, according to a tweet back in November.

Several of the other agencies that Trump had donated his salary to were the National Park Service, U.S. Department of Education, the Small Business Administration, National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Grisham added.
