Pelosi Warns Democrats Must Be Unified to Make Sure Trump Isnt Reelected

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), in a new interview, warned Democrats that they must stay united to ensure President Donald Trump isnt reelected.

While she hasnt endorsed any of the candidates, Pelosi said any of the Democrats running for president “would be better” than Trump.

“I cant even envision a situation where he would be reelected. But we are not, we dont take anything for granted. As I say, we have to have our own vision for the future. But everybody knows that [Democrats] must be unified in making sure that he does not have a second term,” Pelosi told CNN on Sunday in an interview.

The interview comes on the heels of a failed Democratic-led bid to remove Trump from office following a monthslong impeachment inquiry. At the same time, Democratic candidates are continuing to jockey for position in a crowded 2020 field, with no clear front-runner after the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

“We know one thing: we have a better vision for America, and we must defeat Donald Trump who does not share a vision that is about unity and unifying the country,” Pelosi said, adding that the Democratic hopefuls have “made a very valuable contribution to the debate.”

“I think every one of our candidates, all 25—I dont know if Michael Bloomberg is counted in the 25, but Michael Bloomberg, too—have made a very valuable contribution to the debate putting forth their vision, their knowledge, their judgment, their strategic thinking,” the speaker said.

Pelosi also responded to a question about former Vice President Joe Biden, whose 2020 campaign has suffered recent setbacks in New Hampshire and Iowa.
