Instagram has brought out a new feature where you can follow a hashtag just like you would a user.

So, say you’re planning your wedding, you’ll probably want to follow #weddings, #weddingdresses, #weddingflowers, and so on.

Or if you’re really into woodworking, you can follow #wood (behave), or #woodworking to see regular updates.

It means you won’t have to keep typing ‘woodworking’ into your search bar to see all the latest woodworking trends, and find the best woodworking accounts.

Now you can follow Instagram #hashtags just like you follow your friends

Announcing the new function, Instagram wrote in a blog post: ‘Everyday, millions of people share photos and videos and tag them with relevant hashtags.

Apple is about to release an insanely expensive computer – and we want it badly

‘#onthetable, #oddlysatisfying and #floralnails are just a few examples of hashtags that represent the many interests and passions of our community.

‘To make these posts even more discoverable, we’re introducing hashtags you can follow.’

Apparently following a hashtag will be ‘just like following a friend’ on the app.

‘To get started, search for a topic you’re interested in or tap on a hashtag from any post,’ the blog continues.

‘You’ll see relevant hashtags displayed in your search results, along with related accounts. When you find a hashtag you like, open the hashtag page and tap on the follow button.

‘You’ll begin seeing top posts from that hashtag in your feed and some of the latest stories in your stories bar.’

But be warned – if your account is public, everyone will be able to see which hashtags you’re following.
