NEW DELHI: Domestic equity markets were witnessing mild bouts of selling in Thursday's trade ahead of the expiry of December derivatives contracts.
Broder midcap index was also appearing choppy, in line with benchmark Sensex.
The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading merely 14 points up at 17,687 around 10:45 am (IST), while Sensex was 9 points down at 33,903. The NSE Nifty50 was 3 points up at 10,494.
Shares of Reliance Communications (up 11.59 per cent), NLC India (up 4.52 per cent), National Aluminium Company (up 3.01 per cent), GMR Infrastructure (up 2.36 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 2.07 per cent) were the gainers of the midcap index.
On the contrary, Bajaj Holdings & Investment (down 1.48 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 1.05 per cent), L&T Finance Holdings (down 1.02 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories (down 1 per cent) were among the top losers of the BSE Midcap index.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.
Hindustan Unilever, Tata Steel, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Dr Reddy's and HDFC Bank were among the gainers in the Sensex index.
