WHO needs $16 billion to help poor countries fight COVID

WHO poor countries

London, (Business News Report)|| The World Health Organization (WHO) has requested $16 billion to help poor countries face the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.

WHO said that the amount represents the gap in the budget to support poor countries with vaccines, tests and medicines through a program launched by the United Nations.

It also indicated that the $16 billion will be used to provide 600 million doses of vaccines, purchase 700 million tests and treat 120 million patients.

According to UN calculations, 92% of the total required contribution must be provided by the European Union and the G20, which represent the world’s largest industrial and emerging economies.

WHO announced, earlier this month, that the recommended mixture of antibodies is ineffective against the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus.

Recent studies have shown that a mixture of antibodies recommended by WHO is ineffective against Omicron.

The mixture is composed of antibodies to each of the drugs Cacerifimab and Imdivimab.

The mixture of antibodies appears to show ineffectiveness against Omicron, said Janet Diaz, an expert in therapeutics for COVID-19 disease at the WHO.

WHO also announced that half a million deaths from the Coronavirus pandemic have been recorded, since the discovery of the Omicron mutated from the Coronavirus.

The director of accident management at the organization, Abdi Mahmoud, said that 130 million injuries and 500 thousand deaths had been recorded in the world since the announcement of the worrisome mutant Omicron in late November.

Since then, the Omicron has quickly overtaken Delta to become the world’s fastest-growing variant, although its symptoms appear to be less severe.

WHO is also tracking four sub-strains of the omicron, and while the PA1 sub-strain was dominant, PA2 is more contagious and is expected to account for an increasing share of omicron infections.

The Coronavirus pandemic has officially claimed the lives of more than 5,748,498 people worldwide since the end of December 2019.
