BNR – Volkswagen will begin selling battery-operated versions of its VW bus in North America in 2024. The move appears to signify the legendary model’s comeback after a two-decade halt.
The debut of the totally electric ID. Buzz will also have a longer variant that can carry a maximum of seven people. The new model will have a bigger 85-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery to boost distance.
Between New York and San Francisco, the VW bus is known as the microbus.
Volkswagen Enhanced Range and Charging Capabilities
According to the firm, all ID. Buzz cars for the North American market will be manufactured at Volkswagen’s facility in Hanover, Germany. At accessible rapid charging stations, Volkswagen claims that batteries may be charged from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes.
“The zero-direct emission ID. Buzz is the spiritual reincarnation of the Microbus, reimagined for our electric future,” Pablo Di Si, President and CEO of Volkswagen of America, Inc. said in a statement.
