Turkey, Bahrain to hold economic meeting next March

Turkey Bahrain

Ankara, (Business News Report)| The Turkish Foreign Ministry has decided to hold a joint economic meeting between Turkey and Bahrain next March.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu received Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Prince Salman met the Turkish Foreign Minister, who is on an official visit to Bahrain, at the Gudaibiya Palace in the capital, Manama.

According to diplomatic sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed during the meeting the steps to be taken to strengthen bilateral relations.

Bahraini diplomatic sources confirmed that the decision was taken during the meeting of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu with his Bahraini counterpart Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani in the capital, Manama.

The Turkish Anadolu Agency, quoting from the sources, reported that Cavusoglu and Al-Zayani discussed during the meeting ways to enhance trade relations between the two sides.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had said, in a previous statement, that Minister Cavusoglu visited the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday and Monday, at the invitation of Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Al-Zayani.

Prior to the visit, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed that the Turkish-Bahraini relations derive their strength from the strong ties and solidarity between the peoples of the two countries.

This came in a statement to the Bahraini press prior to a two-day visit that began yesterday.

“I am visiting Bahrain once again to confirm our commitment to elevating our bilateral relations to a level that guarantees strong and deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries,” Çavuşoğlu said.

Davutoglu noted that it was agreed to activate joint relations during the visit of his Bahraini counterpart Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani to Turkey last November.

Over the past few months, Turkey has worked to strengthen its relationship with the Arab Gulf states, especially the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, in his statements last month that All the peoples of the Gulf are “true brothers” of Turkey, regardless of their origins, sects or beliefs.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey wishes to develop its relationship with this region and to become stronger and prevail in solidarity and brotherhood.

By organizing an economic meeting in March with Bahrain, Turkey aims to open up a greater horizon for investments between the two countries at a time when the Turkish lira is deteriorating.
