BNR – Meta Platforms is reportedly in the process of creating a cutting-edge artificial intelligence system. The company aspires to rival OpenAI’s most advanced model, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

The Facebook parent company is setting its sights on having this innovative AI model ready for deployment by next year.

Experts anticipate that this forthcoming AI model will undergo further refinements. Projections expect it to outperform its commercial counterpart known as Llama 2, a Meta AI language model launched in July.

Llama 2 is currently distributed via Microsoft’s Azure cloud services and is positioned as a competitor to ChatGPT and Bard.

Meta: Ambitious AI Initiative

The primary objective behind this ambitious endeavour is to facilitate other businesses and enterprises in the development of AI services.

The development timeline for this large language model is tentatively called the “new AI system.” It also includes plans to initiate training in early 2024.

As of now, Meta has not issued an official comment or remark regarding this AI development initiative.

The generative AI market has been increasingly attractive to businesses and enterprises seeking enhanced capabilities for refining their operational processes since the introduction of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022.

Furthermore, Apple is also reportedly actively working on AI solutions akin to ChatGPT and Bard.

Apple’s efforts in this domain include the development of its framework, known as Ajax.

The framework is for creating large language models and testing a chatbot referred to by some engineers as Apple GPT.
