Doha, (Business News Report)|| The inflation rate in the State of Qatar increased during the month of May by 5.18% compared to the same month last year on an annual basis.
Inflation rate in Qatar reached 103.13 points, and increased by 1.34% compared to the previous month.
This indicator, which measures the inflation rate, also includes 12 main groups of consumer goods, under which 737 goods and services fall, and is calculated on a 2018 basis according to the results calculated from the data of the Household Income Expenditure Survey 2017-2018.
The Planning and Statistics Authority explained that the increase in the index on an annual basis is due to the increase in the prices of eight groups, most notably: the entertainment and culture group by 30.79%, followed by the food and beverage group by 5.85%, and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel group by 5.03%.
As well as the group of other goods and services by 3.51%, the transportation group by 1.63%, the furniture and household appliances group by 1.34%, the restaurants and hotels group by 0.58%, and the education group by 0.48%.
Annual decreases affected the health group by 3.14%, the communications group by 0.64%, and the clothing and footwear group by 0.22%, while the tobacco group did not record any significant change.
The monthly rise in the consumer price index in May 2022 compared to the previous April was the result of an increase in the prices of six groups, namely: the entertainment and culture group by 7.30%, followed by the food and beverage group by 3.30%, and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group by 3.30%. 0.49%.
As well as the group of restaurants and hotels by 0.33%, and the group of clothes and shoes by 0.11%, and a slight increase in the group of furniture and household appliances by 0.03%.
The monthly decline came in one group, which is the group of other goods and services by 0.79%, while the groups of tobacco, health, transportation, communications, and education did not witness any change compared to the previous month.
