Dubai – Sharjah National Oil Company announced the successful completion of the first phase of the Hadiya gas and condensate field development. This milestone doubles the emirate’s natural gas production capacity. The achievement strengthens local energy security and supply reliability.
The operator completed essential infrastructure works to initiate production. These efforts included drilling evaluation wells and analyzing well data. The company also established gathering systems and laid pipelines for gas transport. Commissioning activities followed these construction phases.
Operations began less than one year after the initial discovery in May 2024. This rapid timeline highlights an accelerated evaluation and development program. The swift transition from discovery to production underscores operational efficiency in utilizing this key resource.
Khamis Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer, described the project as a major development. He stated it forms a core pillar of long-term growth strategy. Speedy execution demonstrates capability to meet rising energy demands despite logistical challenges.
Supply chain disruptions and regional shipping constraints were overcome during implementation. Al Mazrouei emphasized the field’s role in enhancing energy security. He noted it creates long-term value for Sharjah through stable output generation.
Masoud Al Hammadi, Chief Executive Officer of Exploration and Production, confirmed reservoir quality. Tests showed promising pressure and performance characteristics across the field. These results validate commercial viability for sustained future operations.
Preparations are underway for the next development stage. Plans aim to increase gas production volumes by 2027. Stable production rates are targeted to be achieved by 2028. This expansion supports growing domestic demand for natural gas resources.
In November 2025, the company drilled and tested the second well, Hadiya-02. It reached a total depth of 13 thousand feet. Results revealed additional gas reserves within the formation. This finding complements earlier discoveries from the first well.
The first well, Hadiya-01, proved gas presence in Thamama formations. It entered production within ten months of discovery. The field lies north of the Sajaa field, adding to existing land-based assets since Mahani’s discovery in 2020.
SNOC operates as the government executive arm for oil and gas. Established under an emiri decree updated in 2014, it manages state assets. With over forty years of experience, it targets carbon neutrality by 2050 while diversifying into solar and hydrogen projects.
