Dubai – The Egyptian Ministry of Finance has confirmed that ongoing economic and fiscal reforms have stabilized public finances, improved reserves, and accelerated economic activity. This statement follows the upgrade by Moody’s Investors Service, which raised Egypt’s credit rating to B3 with a positive outlook.

The ministry emphasized its commitment to developing the business environment, simplifying procedures, and enhancing competition to boost private investment, productivity, and growth. It acknowledged challenges related to high debt service costs but pledged serious efforts to lower these rates faster in the near future.

Key Economic Indicators and Projections

According to the ministry, the Egyptian economy has become more resilient to shocks. Strong economic growth helped reduce government debt to 81.9% of GDP by June 2026. Net international reserves rose to $57 billion in September 2026, reflecting improved external positions.

Tax revenues increased to 13% of GDP, representing a 1.6% rise over two years without additional burdens. These figures underscore the effectiveness of current fiscal policies in broadening the revenue base while maintaining macroeconomic stability.

Future Outlook and Structural Reforms

Moody’s positive outlook reflects expectations for stronger economic growth driven by continued reforms, fiscal discipline, and support for production and exports. The ministry aims to push structural reforms and facilitations to enhance private sector confidence and achieve stable, high growth rates.

Financial policies remain balanced to preserve stability and drive development. The government seeks to create additional fiscal space to increase spending on targeted health, education, and social protection programs, ensuring sustainable long-term progress.
