Cairo – Business News Report|| Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Ready-Made Garment Chamber under the Federation of Egyptian Industries, has confirmed that the ready-made garment and textile industry in Egypt has witnessed remarkable development over recent years. This progress is reflected in an increased share of local products within the domestic market, alongside continuous export growth and the attraction of new investments into the sector.

Abdel Salam noted that these advancements are driven by expanded production capacities and improved quality standards, which have significantly enhanced the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets. He emphasized that the current landscape represents a substantial transformation from previous decades, marking a clear victory for local manufacturing capabilities against foreign competition.

Dominant Local Market Presence

The Egyptian manufacturer currently holds approximately ninety percent of the supply in the local market, leaving only ten percent for imported goods. This stands in stark contrast to the situation six or seven years ago, when local and imported products each accounted for roughly fifty percent of the market share. This dramatic shift underscores the rapid growth experienced by the Egyptian industry during this period.

Robust Export Growth Trajectory

According to Abdel Salam, ready-made garment and textile exports reached approximately three point four billion dollars in 2025. During the first nine months of 2026, sector exports rose by between twenty-two and twenty-five percent. Consequently, he expects total exports to approach four point two five billion dollars by the end of the current year, signaling strong momentum for the industry’s global reach.

Strategic Investment Drivers

The expansion of industrial capacity and overall growth has attracted both domestic and foreign investors. Key factors enhancing the sector’s investment appeal include robust infrastructure, a stable business environment, and integrated production stages. These elements collectively boost the competitiveness of Egyptian products and encourage further capital inflow into the textile and apparel manufacturing space.

Integrated Production Ecosystem

Abdel Salam affirmed that Egypt possesses comprehensive foundations for expanding its garment and textile industries. The ecosystem spans cotton cultivation, spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing, accessory production, and final garment manufacturing. This vertical integration maximizes local value addition and reduces reliance on imported inputs, creating a self-sufficient and resilient industrial chain.

Cairo Fashion & Tex Exhibition Launch

The event coincides with Cairo Mother and La Pyjama exhibitions, sponsored by the Ministries of Industry and Investment. Organized by Pyramids Group International, the exhibition highlights the sector’s evolution and the efforts of organizers like Dr. Mohamed El-Sharif to support industry growth and enhance global market opportunities for Egyptian manufacturers.
