Dubai emissions

Abu Dhabi, (Business News Report)|| Dubai aims to reduce its carbon emissions by nearly a third by 2030, as part of a long-term plan to achieve carbon neutrality (zero carbon emissions) by 2050.

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has approved the emirate’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions during the next ten years, according to a government statement. The strategy works to reduce emissions and increasing reliance on clean and renewable energy sources.

In this context, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said that the council has begun evaluating carbon emissions for the next ten years, with the participation of the concerned authorities in Dubai to figure out the required measures to reduce the increase in emissions.

Al Tayer added that a road map will then be drawn up to reach carbon neutrality goals by 2050.

Many countries are trying to reduce gas emissions in the coming years to limit the rise in temperatures that threatens to overwhelm the waters of large areas of the earth.

The UAE occupies an advanced position among the countries of the world in the transition to clean energy and the abandonment of fossil fuels, which are a major factor in global warming.

Last December, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) announced the establishment of a $3.6 billion project aimed at reducing carbon emissions from ADNOC’s offshore field operations by more than 30%.

The project will be the largest of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa. It will develop and operate an undersea electricity transmission network to supply ADNOC’s offshore production operations with more efficient and environmentally friendly energy by connecting it to the Abu Dhabi onshore electricity network of TAQA.

Dubai announced the budget for the current year 2022 5% higher than last year’s budget 2021.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said, “the budget for the fiscal year 2022 came with a total expenditure of 59.95 billion dirhams ($16.3 billion).

The budget for the year amounted to 57.1 billion dirhams ($15.5 billion).
