The Labour Party has suspended a senior figure within the Welsh administration following allegations about his "personal conduct".
Carl Sargeant said he resigned as Wales' cabinet secretary for communities and children and called for an independent investigation "to allow me to clear my name".
However, a spokesman for Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones said the politician had been "removed" from his cabinet role.
A Welsh Labour spokesman said: "Carl Sargeant has been suspended from party membership, and therefore the Labour whip in the National Assembly for Wales, while an investigation into allegations received takes place."
