Russia to sign economic integration agreement with UAE

Economic agreement

Doha, (Business News Report)|| Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his country is studying economic integration agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He talked about signing a free trade agreement with the Arab Republic of Egypt soon, as well as a free trade agreement with Iran.

Vladimir Putin stressed that the Russian government is working to fill the need of Russian citizens for food, which has declined due to the sanctions, noting that the West is clearly hostile to Russia.

In a related context, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi held a phone call, and discussed the situation in Ukraine and the issue of global food security.

Economic agreement

The Italian government’s statement issued after the call said the discussion between the two leaders focused on the situation in Ukraine and efforts to find a common solution to the current food crisis and its serious repercussions on the poorest countries in the world.

In its statement, the Kremlin said that Putin stressed that Moscow was ready to make a “significant contribution” to avoiding the food crisis by exporting grain and fertilizer, if the West lifted “politically motivated sanctions” on Russia.

The Kremlin added that Putin drew attention to the difficulties related to the supply of agricultural products to world markets, and said that they are linked to disruptions in the operation of production and logistics chains, as well as the financial policy of Western countries during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The situation has been exacerbated by the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union,” he continued.

The Kremlin said that Putin also informed Draghi of the ongoing work to manage life in the liberated Donbass cities, and also gave assessments of the negotiation process that Kyiv has frozen.

He added that “when discussing energy security issues, the intention of the Russian side was confirmed to continue to ensure the uninterrupted supply of natural gas to Italy at prices specified in the contracts.”

Earlier, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed discussed, with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, strengthening partnership relations and developments in regional and international issues.

The two sides discussed the relations of friendship and strategic partnership between the UAE and Russia, regional and international developments and issues of common interest.

The Emirati minister stressed the strength of the friendly relations between Abu Dhabi and Moscow, and “the keenness to enhance the prospects for Emirati-Russian cooperation in all fields to achieve their mutual interests,” according to the same source.
