Donald Trumps alleged comments about Meghan Markle have left something of a mark on his state visit to the UK.

Trumps visit to the UK is now coming to an end – with the President due to head for Ireland today, 5 June.

However, after reports that the US President slung an insult at Meghan Markle, former actress and member of the Royal Family, Trumps interactions with the Royals during this trip have come under scrutiny.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Trump made an effort to clarify his stance on Meghan Markle.

What did Donald Trump say about Meghan Markle?

Donald Trump called Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, nasty in an interview with The Sun when he learned of comments she made before the US elections in 2016 saying she would leave the country if he won.

A recording of the interview in question was published, in which Trump says: What can I say? I didnt know that she was nasty.

On Good Morning Britain, Trump attempted to clarify these comments, despite first having denied ever making them.

He told Piers Morgan: The question was asked of me and I didnt know she had said anything bad about me.

They said some of the things she said, I said, “I didnt know she was nasty” – about me.

I said, “You know what, I think shes doing a good job and I hope she enjoys her life.”
