We’ve all had the bitter experience of watching our smartphone smash on the pavement.
But have you ever wondered what would happen if you deliberately tried to destroy an iPhone X?
We decided to give the iPhone X a brutal bashing to see if a new case lived up to its protective promises.
To help us in our mission of destruction, Tech 21 lent us an iPhone X and one of its Evo Check covers, which is designed to protect the device during a fall of up to three metres.
The company makes some bold claims about the toughness of its product and claims it can ‘survive drop after drop’.
‘And when we say that it protects drop after drop, it’s not based on hope or assumption,’ Tech 21 wrote.
‘It’s based on results and hard data.’
Here at Metro.co.uk, we hear a lot of, erm, bumph from tech companies, so were more than a little sceptical about these claims.
We dropped the device more than 50 times, holding it as high as three metres in the air.
It escaped without a scratch.
We decided to get medieval on the iPhone and threw it down a flight of stairs.
During one of these tests, the device fell down an extra flight and dropped much further than the three metres.
Again, the iPhone lived to tell the tale with barely a scratch on it.
After this, we gave up and conceded defeat.
Tech 21’s Evo case really does protect the iPhone X from our sadistic testers, which means it will definitely protect your phone if it slips from your hand or pocket.
And at £29.95, it’s considerably cheaper than paying Apple £286.44 to fix your screen.
