President Donald Trump, on Oct. 18, announced the replacement for Energy Secretary Rick Perry, whom Trump confirmed the day prior would be departing from the job.
“I want to thank Secretary of Energy Rick Perry for the outstanding job he has done. He will be leaving at the end of the year to pursue other interests. Rick was a great Governor of Texas and a great Secretary of Energy. He is also my friend!” Trump said in a statement on Twitter.
“At the same time, I am pleased to nominate Deputy Secretary Dan Brouillette to be the new Secretary of Energy. Dans experience in the sector is unparalleled. A total professional, I have no doubt that Dan will do a great job!”

According to the Department of Energy, Brouillette has three decades of experience in both the public and private sectors.
“Most recently he was the Senior Vice President and head of public policy for USAA, the Nations leading provider of financial services to the military community. Before joining USAA, Mr. Brouillette was a Vice President of Ford Motor Company, where he led the automakers domestic policy teams and served on its North American Operating Committee,” it stated.
“At Ford and USAA, he was part of senior management teams that helped bring to market innovative technologies like auto collision avoidance and remote deposit capture, a technology invented by USAA that allows the use of smart devices to deposit funds into our banking accounts.”
