Theresa May Brexit deal will be ‘BACKED by Rees-Mogg’s rebels – but only if she RESIGNS’

May went through another bruising 12 rounds in the House of Commons last night as the government was forced to whip against their own motion to block a no deal Brexit.

Labour hijacked an amendment originally tabled by Tory MP Caroline Spelman – successfully changing the governments motion and ruling out no deal in “all circumstances”.

Despite the vote not being legally binding, hard Brexit MPs are now quaking in their boots at the motion being used to stop Britain leaving the EU.

MPs are already expected to vote today on plans to potentially indefinitely extend Article 50 beyond March 29.

Reports however claim that May is going to be been handed a lifeline by rebel Tory cabal The European Research Group, who have agreed to back her original deal on the proviso she quits as PM.

“Rumours are swirling Rees-Moggs MPs are preparing to deliver the ultimatum to May”

Rees-Mogg chairs the ERG, which has been a perpetual thorn in the sign of May throughout Brexit.

The faction attempted to oust her last year in a failed coup, and have repeatedly voted down her Withdrawal Agreement.

With the possibility of Brexit slipping through their fingers however, the arch-Euro-sceptics are reportedly prepared to support May.

It would see the PMs twice defeated plan brought back for a third time and finally shoved through the Commons.

ERG members had previously criticised Mays plan for leaving Britain too closely tied to the EU.

Rees-Mogg was also keen to remind the Commons tonight that despite the no deal motion, the law still states Britain will leave on March 29.

Extension would require the agreement of the EU, and failing that the Commons would have to revoke Article 50.

Rumours are swirling Rees-Moggs MPs are preparing to deliver the ultimatum to May that they will back her as long as she resigns.

Mays government has filed a motion for debate in the House of Commons on Thursday offering to seek a one-off extension delaying Brexit to June 30.

And this is only if MPs approve the deal negotiated with the EU by next Wednesday.
