YouTube has effectively admitted that its iPhone app drains your battery incredibly quickly.

But it’s stepped in equally quickly to provide a fix.

The video site has issued an update today for a bug which is said to affect people using the app on iOS 11, which was released on September 19.

Some users were claiming that using YouTube on the iPhone X resulted in battery levels dropping by up to 20 percent after watching just 10 or 15 minutes of video.

They also claimed their device overheated when using the app.

Others claimed to have seen the same issue on the iPhone 7.

Now YouTube has released a new version of the app, which iPhone owners can download by going into their settings.

In a statement about ‘what’s new in Version 12.45’ of the software, YouTube wrote: ‘Fixed an issue with battery usage.’

I have used the iPhone X since it was released and haven’t noticed any battery drain while using YouTube.

The £999 iPhone X is very different from Apple’s previous mobile phones.

It was released to mark the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone and is designed to reignite the spark of excitement which other recently released phones have snuffed out.

It’s missing a ‘home button’ which is used on other models to unlock the phone and return to the device’s main screen.

This means that using the smartphone will take a bit of getting used to for tech fans who’ve owned Apple handsets ever since the fruity firm’s legendary founder Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone in 2007.
