NEW DELHI: Societe Generale today bought shares of several firms, including Fortis Healthcare and InterGlobe Aviation, for Rs 696.92 crore through open market transactions.

According to the block deal data available with BSE, Societe Generale purchased 2.66 crore shares of eight firms for Rs 696.92 crore.

The firms are Bharat Financial Inclusion, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, Fortis Healthcare, Icra, InterGlobe Aviation, Max Financial Services, Petronet LNG and Shriram Transport Finance Company.

The shares were acquired in the range of Rs 137.75-3,875 apiece.

Societe Generale bought Bharat Financial Inclusion's shares for a total amount of Rs 129.04 crore at a price of Rs 992.65 apiece, while that of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals for Rs 25.86 crore at a price Rs 262.65 per unit.

Fortis Healthcare's shares were purchased for a sum of Rs 156.66 crore at Rs 137.75 per scrip and that of Icra for Rs 13.41 crore at Rs 3,875 apiece.

The shares of InterGlobe Aviation, amounting to a total of Rs 8.88 crore, were obtained at a price of Rs 1,169 per scrip, while that of Max Financial Services at Rs 554.75 a unit for Rs 40.04 crore.

Petronet LNG's shares were acquired at Rs 250.25 per unit for Rs 300.30 crore and that of Shriram Transport Finance Company for a total of Rs 22.70 crore at Rs 1,380 apiece.

Among the sellers of the shares were Swiss Finance Corporation (Mauritius), Morgan Stanley Mauritius Company and Morgan Stanley France SAS.
