Russia has manufactured the first lot of the vaccine its scientists have developed against the coronavirus, Interfax reported Saturday, citing the countrys ministry of health.
Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a COVID-19 vaccine, dubbed Sputnik V and developed by Russias Gamaleya Research Institute, had been green-lit for use in the country.
The vaccine is being produced primarily for the domestic market, but Moscow is already in talks about exports, the health ministry said. Campaigns of mass vaccinations could start in Russia in December or January.
