Paris hospitals on Wednesday acknowledged information about Yellow Jacket protesters was inappropriately shared in a government database, while denying law enforcement officials had access to the information.

The Public Assistance Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) and the Regional Health Agency Ile-de-France (ARS) said in a statement they are conducting an investigation into how information on injured protesters may have been disclosed through electronic health records.

The hospitals and regional health agency initially denied on Sunday that information “on the nature of the wounds cared for” was shared. However, an investigation in Wednesdays edition of satirical newspaper Le Canard enchainé showed such details were included in a health ministry database.

French doctors group UFML demanded clarity over whether that information was also available to law enforcement officials in a statement Wednesday, in response to Le Canard enchaîné report.

“If it appears that state services knowingly flouted patient confidentiality, the medical profession will have to accept the consequences and demand the resignation of the highest officials in this political and health scandal,” UFML said.
