Ahmedabad: JK Paper plans to invest Rs 1,500 crore for the modernization and expansion of company's existing paper manufacturing unit at Songadh in Gujarat.

The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government here.

The company's plant capacity will increase from 60,000 tpa to 1,60,000 tpa and the plant would become operation by December 2020 after modernisation and expansion, the statement said.

The new plant will focus on producing duplex-coated board paper that can replace single-use plastics such used to make straws, cups and plates.
