While the distinction between war crime and warfare can be a bit blurry in the gritty world of Game of Thrones, experts at the Red Cross have made an effort at assessing the worst war criminal this side of Westeros.
As popular fantasy drama Game of Thrones enters its eighth and final season, experts in war law at the Red Cross have offered the show an inventive send-off, ranking its characters according to their often brutal, if fictional, crimes.
The complete list shows a nearly five-to-one ratio of crime to compliance in characters actions across all 67 episodes of the show, highlighting some of the worst crimes, including those committed by the ostensible heroes.
While fans might dispute whether or not Daenerys Targaryen immolating her opponents with dragon fire constitutes “superfluous injury or unnecessary suffering,” the “tongue-in-cheek” list is an interesting method of highlighting some of the real-life protections that organizations like the Red Cross attempt to enforce and preserve.
