It also happened to be the last trading day of this financial year as stock exchanges are shut for the next two days.

The bluechip Sensex settled down 206 points, or 0.62 per cent, at 32,969.

The Nifty index ended with a loss of 0.69 per cent at 10,114.

Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel cracked over 3 per cent in the Sensex box.

Out of the total 30 stocks, 20 dropped into the red.

It was a bad day for telecom and metal indices, which tanked over 2 per cent. Consumer durables and oil & gas held up.

We have with us G Chokkalingam of Equinomics Research and Advisory to talk about the fundamental side of markets.
