{"id":96127,"date":"2018-10-24T12:47:01","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T12:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/brexit-is-95-settled-theresa-may-to-fight-back-as-she-faces-no-confidence-vote-3\/"},"modified":"2018-10-24T12:47:01","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T12:47:01","slug":"brexit-is-95-settled-theresa-may-to-fight-back-as-she-faces-no-confidence-vote-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/brexit-is-95-settled-theresa-may-to-fight-back-as-she-faces-no-confidence-vote-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Brexit is 95% SETTLED Theresa May to fight back as she faces NO CONFIDENCE vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Prime Minister will use a statement in the House of Commons to assure MPs that the \u201cvast majority\u201d of the withdrawal agreement has been completed following her meeting with EU leaders in Salzburg last week.  <\/p>\n<p>She will deliver the speech amid rampant speculation that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/news\/latest-news\/737842\/theresa-may-vote-of-no-confidence-david-davis-replacement\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">she could face a no confidence vote<\/a> at the 1922 committee of backbench Tory MPs on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Furious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/latest\/brexit\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Brexit<\/a>-supporting MPs have rounded on Mrs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/latest\/theresa-may\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">May<\/a> over her handling of Brexit, with many unwilling to accept her suggestions of extending the transition period.<\/p>\n<p>Some anonymous Tory MPs told several newspapers the PM was facing \u201cassassination\u201d and \u201cshould bring her own noose\u201d to the committee meeting, chaired by Sir Graham Brady.<\/p>\n<p>In her statement, Mrs May will seek to placate pro-Brexit MPs by insisting &quot;important progress&quot; has been made on issues such as security, transport and services.<\/p>\n<p>\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.dailystar.co.uk\/dynamic\/205\/photos\/912000\/620x\/theresa-may-brexit-news-737913.jpg?r=5bcd9c187a5a5\" alt=\"theresa may brexit news\"\/><\/p>\n<p>            DEFENCE: Theresa May will insist the withdrawal agreement is 95% settled in a speech today (Pic: GETTY)<\/p>\n<p>The PM will argue that, despite the deadlock over the issue of the Irish border, \u201c95% of the withdrawal agreement and its protocols are now settled\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She will say: \u201cAs I set out last week, the original backstop proposal from the EU was one we could not accept, as it would mean creating a customs border down the Irish Sea and breaking up the integrity of the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not believe that any UK prime minister could ever accept this. And I certainly will not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furious backbenchers warned the PM she is &quot;drinking in the last chance saloon&quot; after tensions flared over the possibility of extending the transition period.<\/p>\n<p>    Related Articles<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n            \u201cWe have made important progress\u201d\n        <\/p>\n<p>        <cite>Theresa May<\/cite>\n    <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Senior Brexiteer Theresa Villiers criticised &quot;disturbing&quot; anonymous briefings to Sunday newspapers, including claims the PM was entering the &quot;killing zone&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>But Brexit minister Suella Braverman said her colleagues were &quot;free to express themselves in the way they wish&quot; and repeatedly refused to say she would back Mrs May in a confidence vote.<\/p>\n<p>Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab said the exit agreement must be finalised by the end of next month to allow new laws to be put in place in time for exit day.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the BBC, he said he was \u201copen-minded\u201d about the possibility of extending the post-Brexit transition period by a few months.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.dailystar.co.uk\/img\/static\/placeholder-horizontal.gif\" alt=\"theresa may donald tusk\"\/>\n    <\/p>\n<p>            DISCUSSION: Theresa May and Donald Tusk talking at the ASEM summit at the European Council (Pic: GETTY)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts an obvious possible route, as long as its short, perhaps a few months, and secondly, that we know how we get out of it,\u201d Mr Raab said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd obviously it has to solve the backstop issue so that falls away then as a possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Transport secretary Chris Grayling has said MPs seeking a vote of confidence in Mrs May risk seeing Britain leave the EU without a deal.<\/p>\n<p>The Brexiteer, who ran Mrs May&#039;s leadership campaign in 2016, appealed for calm as opponents of the PM ramped up their threats to remove her from office if she does not alter course on Brexit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.dailystar.co.uk\/img\/static\/placeholder-horizontal.gif\" alt=\"theresa may donald tusk\"\/>\n    <\/p>\n<p>            SUMMIT: Theresa May met with EU leaders in Brussels last week (Pic: GETTY)<\/p>\n<p>Asked about a possible no-confidence vote, Mr Grayling told BBC Radio 4&#039;s Today programme: &quot;This is really a moment for calm, level heads.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We have got to get through the last bit of negotiation.
