Expectations are for a rise in sales of 2.5 per cent on the year before, up from April&#039;s 1.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>In Asia, Chinese retail sales and urban investment data came in surprisingly weak, giving away to some jitters.<\/p>\n<p>MSCI&#039;s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan dipped 0.5 per cent, while Japan&#039;s Nikkei lost 0.4 per cent and Hong Kong&#039;s Hang Seng slipped 0.2 per cent. <\/p>\n<p>Over in Europe, it looks set to be a sluggish close to the week, with London Capital Group expecting the FTSE to open 27 points lower at 7,676.
