NEW DELHI: Aditya Puri<\/a>, Managing Director of HDFC Bank<\/a>, has done it again! He has made it to Barrons list of Top 30 Global CEOs for the fourth straight year, along with big names Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Puri is the only Indian CEO to feature in the list. He has been at the helm of HDFC Bank, India's largest private lender, since its inception in 1994. <\/p>\n

In its profile about Puri, the magazine said, "He turned a start-up into a banking giant, and helped bring Indians into the modern financial era. Even after 24 years at the helm, Puri, 67, elicits effusive praise from investors, with descriptions ranging from "one of the most impressive CEOs we have come across" to a "great man who has built a great bank"." <\/p>\n

This is how the description read further: "The career banker methodically built the start-up into Indias second-largest private sector bank by market value. He reliably minted money by serving the countrys burgeoning middle class, and avoided pitfalls like the bad corporate loans and governance scandals now tripping up rivals." <\/p>\n

The 14th edition of the magazine list is power statement, by all means. It includes the world's top CEOs such Bezos of Amazon, Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, Larry Page<\/a> of Alphabet, Reed Hastings of Netflix, Satya Nadella<\/a> of Microsoft<\/a> and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. <\/p>\n

This year, the magazine clubbed the CEOs in three categories: Visionary Founders, Growth Leaders, and Turnaround Experts. Puri has been put in the Growth Leaders category. <\/p>\n

About growth under Puri's leadership, the magazine lined up a few statistics: <\/em>
\u2013 One-year total return: 25.2 per cent
\u2013 Annualised returns (since inception): 24 per cent
\u2013 Five-year profit growth: 19.8 per cent \u2013 Market value ($billion): 77.6 <\/p>\n

HDFC Bank has 43 million customers, with 4,787 branches and 12,635 ATMs across 2,691 Indian towns and cities. <\/p>\n
