Only Hong Kong&#039;s HSI had made gains at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the European markets are set to provide a lacklustre open, according to financial bookmakers. LCG is calling the FTSE 100 to open four points higher at 7569, with the German Dax set to open 10 points up and France&#039;s CAC 40 two points down.<\/p>\n<h2>Corporate news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>JD Wetherspoon <\/strong>\u2013 in a trading update this morning, the pub chain will be under scrutiny to see if its cautious March guidance will match up to actual performance (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityam.com\/284048\/wetherspoon-boss-tim-martin-well-shut-down-our-social-media\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">though it won&#039;t be shouting about it on social media<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Greggs <\/strong>\u2013 the bakery will be updating investors after its CEO said 2018 would be the peak year for investment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Imperial Brands <\/strong>\u2013 one of the blue chip companies to report today, the cigarette maker is unlikely to impress according to analysts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tui <\/strong>\u2013 the holiday operator is expected to report strong half-year results.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Provident Financial <\/strong>\u2013 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityam.com\/283675\/provident-financial-completes-gbp331m-rights-issue-barclays\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">troubled doorstep lender<\/a> will release a trading update.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Data<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>00.01 \u2013 British Retail Consortium like-for-like retail sales (April)<\/li>\n<li>13.30 \u2013 US Producer Price Index (April) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\/acceptable.html\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#039;s top story: Donald Trump pulls US out of landmar..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":76986,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[202],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-76985","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-finance"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
