{"id":75025,"date":"2018-04-28T20:37:01","date_gmt":"2018-04-28T20:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/alfie-evans-dies-after-months-long-legal-battle\/"},"modified":"2018-04-28T20:37:01","modified_gmt":"2018-04-28T20:37:01","slug":"alfie-evans-dies-after-months-long-legal-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/alfie-evans-dies-after-months-long-legal-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Alfie Evans dies after months-long legal battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alfie Evans, the British boy who suffered from a rare degenerative brain condition and was at the center of a protracted legal fight, died at a childrens hospital in Liverpool, five days after he was taken off life support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy gladiator lay down his shield and gained his wings \u2026 absolutely heartbroken,\u201d the boys father, Thomas Evans, wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thomas.leenew.7?hc_ref=ARQCFl5zo2agPJPRVigQOM3c1W0Vv3xeyZX_uUsryJ304CUvZ49O677H6Q9ILRD3FdA\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">in a Facebook post<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Alfies life support was withdrawn Monday after his parents lost legal challenges against a High Court ruling allowing the hospital to withdraw ventilation.<\/p>\n<p>Brain scans showed that almost of all of the 23-month-old boys brain had been destroyed, and judges ultimately agreed with doctors assessment that there was no hope for recovery.
