In a speech in Vienna, he vowed to ensure trade with the EU remained as \u201cfrictionless as possible\u201d after the split.<\/p>\n

The Tory MP told Austrian business leaders the commitment offered a \u201cclear road\u201d into talks with the other member states, who fear Britain might undercut the EU in the future to make more money.<\/p>\n

But Labour slammed his comments, claiming his assurance the UK would not lead a \u201crace to the bottom\u201d outside the EU was not \u201cworth the paper it is written on\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Davis said: \u201cI know that for one reason or another there are some people who have sought to question that these are really our intentions. <\/p>\n
