{"id":57062,"date":"2018-01-08T20:01:18","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T20:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/gopro-drops-drones-as-sales-plunge\/"},"modified":"2018-01-08T20:01:18","modified_gmt":"2018-01-08T20:01:18","slug":"gopro-drops-drones-as-sales-plunge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/gopro-drops-drones-as-sales-plunge\/","title":{"rendered":"GoPro drops drones as sales plunge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Camera-maker GoPro said it is getting out of the drone business following &quot;hostile&quot; regulations in the US and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The firm made <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.gopro.com\/press-releases\/press-release-details\/2018\/GoPro-Announces-Preliminary-Fourth-Quarter-2017-Results\/default.aspx\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">the announcement<\/a> on Monday as it warned investors of disappointing end-of-year results and layoffs.<\/p>\n<p>GoPro said revenue fell almost 40% in the fourth quarter to $340m compared with the same period in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The firm said it is committed to &quot;turning around&quot; the business.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, GoPro said sales struggled during the critical holiday shopping season. <\/p>\n<p>The firm was forced to slash prices of key products, including the HERO5 Black camera, to increase demand in a move that cost about $80m.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/amp\/technology-37418861\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">GoPro or go home!
