{"id":41399,"date":"2017-12-19T15:52:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T15:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/ukip-to-face-tribunal-over-brexit-vote-data-4\/"},"modified":"2017-12-19T15:52:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T15:52:04","slug":"ukip-to-face-tribunal-over-brexit-vote-data-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/ukip-to-face-tribunal-over-brexit-vote-data-4\/","title":{"rendered":"UKIP to face tribunal over Brexit vote data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Kingdom Independence Party <a href=\"https:\/\/iconewsblog.org.uk\/2017\/12\/13\/update-on-ico-investigation-into-data-analytics-for-political-purposes\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">will face a tribunal<\/a> after it failed to cooperate with an investigation into the use of analytics during the EU referendum campaign.<\/p>\n<p>UKIP was asked to provide details about its Brexit campaign to the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ico.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Information Commissioner\u2019s Office<\/a> (ICO), which in May announced it was launching an investigation into how political parties use data to target voters, particularly on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Parties that target voters through social media had been warned that if they sent political messages to people based on their individual data, they could be breaking the law.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Denham, the information commissioner, said more than 30 organizations were under scrutiny.
