Theresa May will update MPs on the progress of Brexit talks today, ahead of a summit on Thursday. She is expected to greet a "new sense of optimism"<\/a> and deny that the government has watered down any of its demands.<\/p>\n

European markets are expected to open higher this morning.<\/p>\n

Spreadbetters tip that the FTSE will open 0.41 per cent higher at 7,424. Elsewhere in Europe, the German Dax is set to open 0.23 per cent higher at 13,183 and the French Cac will be up 0.24 per cent at 5,412.<\/p>\n

The first Bitcoin futures launched over the weekend<\/a>, opening yet another chapter in the cryptocurrency's erratic rise. This morning Bitcoin is already up more than 10 per cent at around $16,700, while the futures contracts at CBOE Global Markets rocketed to above $18,000.<\/p>\n

Asian stocks continued to rise following unexpectedly positive data from China last week. The MSCI\u2019s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.5 per cent at 552.38. China's blue-chip CSI 300 index was up 1.3 per cent while Japan's Nikkei climbed 0.6 per cent.<\/p>\n
