The move comes within an intensifying conflict between China and the US for possession of advanced chips.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exporters will now be required to get approval to ship certain gallium and germanium goods. According to China, the measures are in place to preserve national security and state\u00a0interests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The plan to oversee shipments of rare elements classified as critical by Beijing comes as Washington considers further curbs on the supply of sophisticated chips to China.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This summer, the US and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/netherlands-puts-chip-export-regulations-amid-us-china-tech-race\/\">Netherlands<\/a> are also likely to strike a double blow to China\u2019s semiconductor companies. Both countries will limit chipmaking equipment exports to keep China from employing such products to enhance its arsenal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>China Tightens Control<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">China\u2019s restrictions will extend to eight gallium-related items beginning 1 August. The involved elements are Gallium antimonide, gallium arsenide, gallium metal, gallium nitride, gallium oxide, gallium phosphide, gallium selenide, and indium gallium arsenide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They will also be applicable to six germanium-related\u00a0products. Germanium dioxide, germanium epitaxial growth substrate, germanium ingot, germanium metal, germanium tetrachloride, and zinc germanium phosphide are among them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exporters will have to go through protocols to secure export licenses, according to a statement from China\u2019s commerce ministry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anybody who exports these items without a\u00a0license\u00a0or\u00a0in excess of the permissible amounts\u00a0may face penalties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, germanium is utilised in infrared technologies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/searchnetworking\/definition\/fiber-optics-optical-fiber#:~:text=Fiber%20optics%2C%20or%20optical%20fiber,surrounds%20the%20glass%20fiber%20core.\">fibre optics<\/a>, and solar power panels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BNR &#8211; The Commerce Ministry of China stated on Monday that it will restrict exports of certain metals that are prevalent in semiconductor manufacturing.
