Discovery said on Wednesday. The decision is effective immediately, according to the parent company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The corporation said it had formed a temporary leadership team as it searches for Licht&#8217;s successor. The new team includes Amy Entelis, EVP of talent and content development; Virginia Moseley, EVP of editorial; Eric Sherling, EVP of US programming; and David Leavy, chief operating officer, on the commercial side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The decision comes less than a week after the Atlantic published a piece critical of Licht.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WB Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav stated that a comprehensive\u00a0search for an alternative leader\u00a0will be conducted. According to the email Zaslav sent\u00a0to employees on Wednesday, the search would be conducted both within the firm\u00a0and externally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis job was never going to be easy, especially at a time of great disruption and transformation,\u201d Zaslav wrote. \u201cChris poured his heart and soul into it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He went on to say that everything did not go as planned. &#8220;Ultimately, that&#8217;s on me,&#8221; he remarked.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Licht&#8217;s Tenure and Marked by Declining Ratings in CNN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Licht took over as CEO in May 2022, succeeding Jeff Zucker, who was forced to leave. The latter failed to reveal a consensual <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/02\/02\/ousted-cnn-boss-jeff-zuckers-affair-with-his-colleague-allison-gollust-was-the-worst-kept-secret-in-tv-but-they-conspired-to-keep-it-out-of-the-media-for-years-with-a-web-of-lies-sources-told-the-post\/\">relationship\u00a0<\/a>with a co-worker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Licht was most recently EVP of special programming at CBS, as well as executive producer and showrunner for &#8220;The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among other things, Licht has been slammed for the network&#8217;s plan to air a town hall with former Republican President Donald Trump on 10\u00a0May. Trump reiterated false\u00a0claims about his 2020 election defeat during the show.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The former US president stated that if elected, he will pardon numerous supporters convicted of taking part in an attack on the US Capitol on 6\u00a0January\u00a02021.
