{"id":186574,"date":"2021-02-03T14:11:06","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T14:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/?p=186574"},"modified":"2021-02-03T14:11:14","modified_gmt":"2021-02-03T14:11:14","slug":"argaam-saudi-general-reserves-fall-to-95-6bn-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/argaam-saudi-general-reserves-fall-to-95-6bn-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Argaam: Saudi general reserves fall to $95.6bn in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saudi general reserves fell by SR110.9 billion ($29.5 billion) year-on-year to SR 358.7 billion in 2020, Argaam said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a monthly basis, the Kingdom\u2019s general reserves retreated by SR 61.7 billion in December 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, the Kingdom\u2019s current account rose by SR18.25 billion to SR77.87 billion in 2020, compared to a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newspaper said the current account recorded an increase of SR 23.3 billion in December 2020, compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public sector expenditures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a related context, public sector expenditures amounted to SR764.6 billion, while the same for the private sector reached SR251.8 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry of finance said 73% (SR183.8 billion) of the private sector\u2019s total expenditures was disbursed within 15 days of receiving payment orders. 19% (SR 49.2 billion) was disbursed within 30 days; and 7% (SR 16billion) was disbursed within 45 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The remaining 1% (SR2.8 billion) of payment orders was disbursed after 45 days due to their suspension according to judicial rulings or seized by statutory decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Projected improvement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjF5reQ8s3uAhUs01kKHQxHDicQFjACegQIBhAC&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.investopedia.com%2Fterms%2Fp%2Fpmi.asp%23%3A~%3Atext%3DThe%2520Purchasing%2520Managers%27%2520Index%2520(PMI%2Cstaying%2520the%2520same%252C%2520or%2520contracting.&amp;usg=AOvVaw0W0Qbl5y4DCCA749SNgwx-\">Purchasing Managers\u2019 Index (PMI)<\/a> in Saudi Arabia rose to 57.1 in January 2021 compared to 57.0 in December 2020, according to IHS Markit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm said in a statement that the index recorded its highest level since November 2019, indicating a significant improvement in business conditions across the non-oil private sector economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The headline index was lifted by a faster expansion in output levels at the start of 2021, and one that was the sharpest recorded for 15 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sharp rise in new orders during January contributed to the expansion in business activity despite growth pace has been easing slightly since December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the upturn was supported by improving market conditions, rising online sales, and greater export demand.
