YouTube Shorts entry to the market is a subsequent blow to Tik Tok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Impressive numbers<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YouTube&#8217;s CEO, Susan Wojcicki, detailed in a letter the company&#8217;s priorities in 2021. He said short videos on YouTube Shorts collect a vast number of 3.5 billion daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YouTube, which belongs to Google, revealed in mid-September the outlines of its new platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She described it as &#8220;a new way for users to express themselves in 15 seconds or less&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform is only available in India now as it is still under development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google intends to compete with TikTok, preferable app by young Internet users. The app has 700 million users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Short videos<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YouTube shorts videos, launched last September, are vertical videos with a maximum duration of 60 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These short videos appear on its users&#8217; channel, and viewers can see them in the Short Videos shelf on the home page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform is currently available in beta version for content creators in India. Wojcicki said it would be launched in other markets this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YouTube Shorts are seen as a way to compete with platforms such as TikTok, which are popular with young people and teenagers, attracting 700 million users around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former US President Donald Trump had threatened to ban TikTok, owned by the Chinese company Bitdance, in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump accused the company at the time of threatening national security and submitting to Beijing&#8217;s instructions. The company those claims several times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facebook also tried to compete with TikTok, with launching &#8220;Rails&#8221; last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last November, Snapchat launched the &#8220;Spotlight&#8221; feature, a general feed for user-generated content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>YouTube network said on Tuesday that YouTube Shorts platform gets more than 3.5 billion daily views.
