Egypt’s government said Sudan will use Egyptian ports to import and export goods. This will help Sudan overcome the difficulties it faces in its main port, Porto Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision aims to help Khartoum overcome low trade traffic flow in Porto Sudan due to goods accumulation and poor infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement outlines the logistical measures necessary for using the ports, especially the ports of Ain Sokhna and Suez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Egyptian ports will enable Sudan to export around 90% of its various products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Egyptian Ministry of Finance had confirmed Sudan’s desire to use the Egyptian ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said Sudan could benefit from the advantages provided by the special economic zone law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sudan will pay usage fee for providing waiting areas for the Sudanese containers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The customs procedures for Sudanese goods passing through Egypt\u2019s transit systems include examining the containers. They also include fulfilling all rules of quarantine control for goods that may need to display items to control authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letter of guarantee<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

There will also be a possibility for establishing a \u201cconfirmed letter of guarantee\u201d. The letter will be subject to deduction and addition. This will facilitate the process on goods transported in the \u201ctransit\u201d system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head of Egyptian Customs Authority (ECA), Kamal Negm, confirmed the Egyptian side\u2019s readiness to end all procedures on \u201ctransit\u201d goods. He said Egypt will provide all guarantees until the Sudanese side finishes establishing the agreed upon company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives from the Customs Authorities at Suez, Ain Sokhna, and Aswan also attended the meeting, alongside representatives from the Egyptian Company for Maritime Transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
