{"id":151555,"date":"2020-09-24T22:24:16","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T22:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/berkeley-energia-steams-ahead-at-salamanca\/"},"modified":"2020-09-24T22:24:16","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T22:24:16","slug":"berkeley-energia-steams-ahead-at-salamanca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/berkeley-energia-steams-ahead-at-salamanca\/","title":{"rendered":"Berkeley Energia steams ahead at Salamanca"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Looking to develop world-class uranium project in Spain<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Salamanca Project has near surface, high-grade deposits<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Land-use permit granted for Retortillo project<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What Berkeley Energia does<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Berkeley Energia Limited (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.proactiveinvestors.com.au\/LON:BKY\/Berkeley-Energia-Ltd\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LON:BKY<\/a>) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.proactiveinvestors.com.au\/LON:BKY\/Berkeley-Energia-Ltd\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASX:BKY<\/a>) is developing a world-class uranium project in a historic mining area in western Spain, about three hours west of Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Following recent Spanish ministerial approval, the company has now received all the European Union and national level approvals required for the initial development of the Salamanca project and is awaiting local licences.<\/p>\n<p>The large scale uranium area has the potential to support a long-life mining operation, with near-surface, high-grade deposits for very low operating costs.<\/p>\n<p>The group has said the project will generate measurable social and environmental benefits in the form of jobs and skills training in a depressed rural community.<\/p>\n<p>It believes the project will also make a significant contribution to the security of supply of Europes zero-carbon energy needs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How it&#039;s doing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In August, Berkeley said it has been granted a land-use permit for its Retortillo project by the relevant municipal authorities in Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Spain.
