{"id":143788,"date":"2020-05-03T20:40:17","date_gmt":"2020-05-03T20:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/uk-trade-talks-with-us-begin-tuesday\/"},"modified":"2020-05-03T20:40:17","modified_gmt":"2020-05-03T20:40:17","slug":"uk-trade-talks-with-us-begin-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bnreport.com\/en\/uk-trade-talks-with-us-begin-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"UK trade talks with US begin Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON \u2014 The U.K. and U.S. will launch talks on a free-trade agreement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>International Trade Secretary Liz Truss will hold an initial video call with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, with around 100 officials listening in from both sides.<\/p>\n<p>Truss pledged to drive a \u201chard bargain\u201d with Washington and insisted a trade deal was \u201cessential to ease the economic burden of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of talks is set to take two weeks, with further rounds roughly every six weeks.
