President Donald Trump, in an interview Monday with \u201cFox & Friends<\/a>,\u201d said that the CCP virus cases will likely peak \u201caround Easter\u201d and defended the White Houses social distancing guidelines, saying they would last until the end of April.<\/p>\n

\u201cWere doing a lot of things and we dont want to [reduce the restrictions] too soon,\u201d Trump said. \u201cAround Easter, thats going to be the highest point, we think.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said that he hopes that April 30 \u201cis a day where we can see some real progress\u201d on the cases, adding that his administration \u201cexpect to see that, short of June 1, we think the death\u2014its a terrible thing to say\u2014will be brought to a very low number.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Epoch Times refers to the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, as the CCP virus<\/a> because the Chinese Communist Partys coverup and mismanagement allowed the virus to spread throughout China before it was transmitted worldwide.<\/p>\n

The guidelines that Trump and the pandemic task force headed by Vice President Mike Pence initially introduced were titled, \u201c15 days to slow the spread,\u201d including social distancing rules to mitigate human-to-human transmission. It has since been extended to April 30<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump told the broadcaster that he received information from task force officials that if the United States did nothing initially, 1.6 million to 2.2 million could have died from the CCP virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we didnt do anything, 2.2 million people could have died,\u201d the president said. \u201cThe worst thing we can do is declare victory \u2026 and then not have victory,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cWere at war, this is war.\u201d<\/p>\n

His remarks come several days after posting to Twitter that he wanted Americans to go back to work by Easter, which is April 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think its going to happen pretty quickly,\u201d Trump told reporters on March 26, saying that authorities will \u201cstart the process pretty soon\u201d of allowing Americans to go back to work. \u201cWe have to go back to work. Our country is built on that,\u201d the president remarked, adding that people \u201care going to be practicing\u201d social distancing as much as they can when they start working again.<\/p>\n
